Most uniform payment interface (UPI) transactions are carried out to pay for groceries, restaurants, mobile network accounts and accounts on service stations, gaming apps and cigarette stores, according to data from National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
The NPCI has for the first time released UPI data per Merchant category. According to the data, more than 3 billion UPI transactions of £ 64,882 crore were carried out at groceries and supermarkets in July. No fewer than 1.22 billion UPI transactions were carried out in fast food restaurants, while in July 1.15 billion transactions were carried out in other eating joints and restaurants.
In terms of value, most users chose UPI to pay for their loans, credit card and now buy, pay later accounts. In July, £ 93,857 crore of contribution were arranged using UPI. With the new, more detailed data at hand, the NPCI can now consider releasing the names of individual traders, experts say to display the largest beneficiaries of Zero Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) UPI model.
UPI Transactions Volume rose in July to a highest peak of 19.47 billion, an increase of 35 percent on an annual basis (yoj). The total UPI transaction value rose by 22 percent yoJ to £ 25.08 Lakh Crore in July. On average, 628 million UPI transactions were carried out daily in July. In June, 18.4 billion transactions, for amount of £ 24.04 Lakh Crore, were carried out using UPI.
