United concerned as Amorim continues to shake up his lines – Man United News and Transfer News | The People’s Person

Every time rivals shifted their lines and gave Manchester United the chance to close the gap at the top, Ruben Amorim’s side squandered the opportunity.

The Red Devils had a chance to finish fifth on Thursday, but despite taking the lead early in the second half, the home side were unable to hold on thanks to defensive changes from the head coach.

This was the fourth time that the 20-time English league champions have failed to capitalize on their rivals’ deficit.

They failed to beat Everton with 10 men, taking the lead before eventually fighting back to draw against Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur.

CL qualification doubtful

And according to The sunThese results have caused unrest within Old Trafford, with INEOS setting Champions League qualification as one of their season goals.

Qualifying for Europe’s elite competition is the only way for the club to fund their overhaul and remain within the PSR regulated domains.

“Concerns are increasing at Manchester United over the club’s possible inability to qualify for the Champions League next season.

“United missed the chance to draw level with Chelsea in fourth place as West Ham drew 1-1 at Old Trafford.

“It was the fourth time since the start of last month that United have failed to capitalize on such an opportunity. United desperately need the revenue generated by qualifying for Europe’s elite competition to support their squad overhaul next summer.”

INEOS is right to be concerned

“But the Red Devils have managed just one win in their last five Premier League games, despite playing one match in the week before Thursday night’s draw.”

The only reason Amorim are not under further scrutiny is because all the other teams in the top half of the table are as inconsistent as the three-time Champions League winners.

Just thirteen league wins in as many months is an appalling record, not to mention his disdain for the club’s attacking ethos and his disdain for the youth academy.

With a win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, United could rise to fifth place in the table. But as it stands, beating the bottom dwellers will be no easy feat.
