Unai Emery speaks prior to the first game of the season:
“We are excited and hopefully we will show it tomorrow in Villa Park.
“I like to start playing with our supporters, and with the atmosphere we were creating when we won in Villa Park, was fantastic.
“I think tomorrow will be the same.
“Newcastle – what a game to enjoy, prepare, play and try to do our best.”
Unai Emery opposite Newcastle United:
“It will be very difficult.
“They have a very good structure tactically and are strong with individual players.
“Together they are such a strong team offensive and defensive to get a lot of duels.
“Our experiences that play, win and lose against them in three years, hopefully at home we can add our supporters who push us.
“We must be intelligent, we must try to tactically adapt to them and try to win duels.
“Last year we ended with 66 points and ended with 66 points in 38 games.

“When I arrived here, my goal – and it is still – was to win a trophy. When we play in Europe, we have one more option.
“For that reason, playing in Europe is very important because we can have a different way to compete, get a trophy, to be a competition and play more matches. I always think about playing matches against very good teams, you can improve more and get more prestige.
“I start with the same goal. Four competitions: Premier League is the first, Europa League is the second, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
“In those competitions we have to try to do our best. Winning a trophy is the next step ahead that I want to do after playing in Europe. I cannot refuse that the general goal I have is to play again in Europe, even for one trophy. We can both share and try to get both again in Europe the next year.”
