Luciano Darderi improved his count from titles to four when he defeated Carlos Taberner in the final of the Playa Laguna Kroatia Open, an ATP 250-level event N UMAG, 6-4 6-3 for his second title in so many weeks.
The Italian born by Argentina shot his way through the field, but hardly succeeded in taking the fourth title of his career when he rolled his ankle in the last game of the final when he raised match Point.
In clear pain and visible, he managed to seal the victory at the next point before he collapsed to the Clay Court after putting an end to the 86 -minute match.
The final, which was played in some rainy circumstances, saw Dardieri stuck 20 winners while he made 17 casual mistakes.

“It’s something special for me,” said Darderi after a treatment for his ankle before the trophy presentation … “The last month was crazy. I just want to thank my father and my whole team. Without them it would be impossible. I am very happy with the title.
“It was two crazy weeks. If you told me this two weeks ago, I would say it was impossible. But I am very happy with my performance and my tennis was incredible this week. I will try to rest now and keep playing in the following week on hard courts.”
