Las Vegas – Saturday’s UFC Vegas 113 saw Polish bantamweight Klaudia Sygula earn her second victory inside the octagon in a fight she couldn’t quite finish with Priscila Cachoeira.
“I’m so happy, but I’m still a little upset because I didn’t do what I was supposed to do,” Sygula (8-2) told media outlets, including Cageside Press, after the fight at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas. “I should finish this fight before time. But I’m so happy I won, it means a lot to me.”
Before the fight, Sygula said, she felt like she could knock Cachoeira out or submit her. “During the fight, I knew it wouldn’t be easy because I had a little problem knocking her down. That’s why I decided to stay on the attack, and she’s strong too, so it’s not easy to knock her out. I tried, but not this time.”
She would later tell Cageside Press that she has no name in mind for her next fight. She has confidence in the promotion and leaves that to the matchmakers.
“You know, I think UFC has a plan for me, and I believe in UFC. What name should I give? Okay, I’m prepared and I’m going to fight. I don’t choose opponents, it’s not important to me. [what’s] The most important thing is to train, progress, develop myself and show in every fight that I am just doing well.”
Sygula, who started her career in Europe, also spoke about making the jump from European regional MMA to the world’s largest mixed martial arts promotion. And it seems like there is quite a difference.
“I don’t think we can compare European fights with UFC. It’s a completely different level, completely different. Even [the] organization, everything is different,” says Sygula.
“I think being here requires preparation. Not just training preparation, but also mental preparation. I remember on my debut thinking, ‘oh, it’s so easy, just a fight like everyone else. Nothing else.’ But it’s completely different, and I think every fighter that’s here has to be prepared,” she continued. “Being here too quickly is also not good. You have to be prepared to be in this place and you have to give everything [one the table]do everything you can to be here and stay here. Not [just] give one fight and then get kicked out of the UFC.”
