Speak with Newsweek Sportsde Ridder said he was disappointed when he received the news about Hernandez, but is grateful to remain in the main event of UFC Vancouver.

“I was of course very disappointed,” De Ridder admitted. “Heartbroken. It would have been a really cool fight, but I expect it to happen pretty soon too. It’s coming again, I think. We don’t have to wait too long for it. I thought, ‘Let’s try to stay on the card,’ and I thought we had a good shot at it too, because if you want to fight, the UFC will get you an opponent. Brendan stepped up pretty quickly after that and I’m very happy he did.”
