The Octagon returned to Brazil tonight for the UFC Rio event and four fighters ended up taking home performance bonuses.
The fight card was headlined by a key lightweight bout pitting former champion Charles Oliveira against perennial contender Mateusz Gamrot. The match resulted in another memorable performance from the former lightweight kingpin in Oliveira. ‘Do Bronx’ was able to defeat ‘Gamer’ on both the feet and the ground before ultimately securing a fight that ended midway through the second round. It was a sensational performance from Oliveira and after the win he called out current BMF title holder Max Holloway!
Tonight’s UFC Rio event was headlined by a men’s bantamweight bout, pitting former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo against Montel Jackson. Unfortunately for fight fans, the fight seemed to fizzle out after a thrilling opening round. Both men seemed to falter, and after fifteen minutes of less than stellar action, Figgy was awarded a split-decision victory.
After tonight’s conclusion eventUFC officials announced at the post-fight press conference that four fighters would take home performance bonuses.
