UFC president Dana White reveals when he plans to retire: never

The role of UFC president has long been held by Dana White, and he has no desire to give up that throne to anyone else. This was expressed by White during a recent interview with Luke Elsman for his YouTube channel, with footage of that chat shared on X account @Home_of_Fight.

When discussing his thoughts on his long tenure as the UFC’s figurehead and how he plans to add many more chapters to that story, White said:

“It’s like people keep asking me, ‘I would have retired a long time ago.’ What should I do when I retire? So when I was younger, the older people would always say to me, I’m going to retire and drink mai tais on the beach and all that stuff. I go on great vacations.”

“After ten days, I’m tired of putting on that damn sunscreen, I’m tired of drinking, I’m tired of all this s**t, and I’m ready to get back to work… Well, you’re pushing yourself beyond your limits. That’s just the way I think and as far as the company goes, I always think about how we can make the company bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger every day. So I just wanted to share that with you.”

UFC would crumble without Dana White, according to the MMA legend

Dana White is such an important figure for the UFC that one of the biggest stars in mixed martial arts history feels like the industry leader would fall apart without White at the helm. This was recently expressed by Ronda Rousey, who told Bert Kreischer this in a recent episode of his podcast.

During that referenced exchange, Rousey stated [via MMA Fighting],

“I think without Dana, the soul is gone. I love him so much. When Dana is done, I think the MMA organization’s dominant title is up for grabs. I think it’s Dana. Without him, it’s just three letters.”

Next year will mark a quarter century since Dana White took over his position in the promotion when Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta purchased the UFC in 2001.
