Weltergevue Promotion closed the UFC 320 Early Prelims, where the massive Punahele Soriano has made a punishing effort on Nikolay Veretennikov.
Punahele Soriano scored a big Takedown for about a minute, where Nikolay defended with a guillotine. That didn’t work and Soriano completed the attempt. From there he was able to catch and land a number of smashing elbows with Vertennikov sitting with his back to the fence.
Soriano ate a lot of time in that position and landed several solid strokes with Veetnikov at all unable to create or clamber up space. Soriano would sometimes deteriorate and go back again, with Veretennikov a random or two from who did not really come close to catching the Hawaiian. A dominant first round of Puna.
In the second, another solid round of Punahele Soriano, who got the fight in the round. Veretennikov did better work this time. He should immediately go back to defending in round three, with Soriano exploding in a Takedown and again edit a guillotine to defend. For a while, Verretennikov stayed upright, back to the fence, until Soriano tore him off and hit him to the canvas. Moreover, there was no moving Soriano, although he did not do enough damage to hold the position. Instead, the referee stood back in the last minute, with Nikolay Verettennikov back to his guillotine and watched.
That was deep, and Soriano looked uncomfortable, although he gave the thumb up and rode it out of the last bell, just before the horn and landed a few large strikes to underline what a certain victory was.
