The Carolina Hurricanes traveled to Music City in their last preseason to hire the Nashville Predators. The side of Rod Brind’amour was looking for his second win for the preseason before the games started to count on Thursday 9 October. However, the predators had different ideas when they won the match 3-2 in the extension. The hurricanes end the preseason 1-4-1, and now all focus will be on the home/season opener against the New Jersey Devils. But how did the predators win?
Summary
The hurricanes started the score in the first period after a handy pass from Captain Jordan Staal to Jordan Martinook. The Jordans could end a great game, started by just Pyotr Kochetkov, behind his own net. He was able to get the puck to steel, which went the other way and placed the puck on Martinook’s stick, who would score on Juuse Saros. However, that leadership would last less than four minutes when Jonathan Marchessault the game on the first of two Power Play goals in the game for the Predators Bond. The first period ended 1-1, in which the home team led in Schoten on Doel, 9-8.

The second period did not see many goals, but the Predators claimed their first lead of the game in the first five minutes of the middle frame. Former Hurricanes player Tyson Jost eventually scored in his old team because he was claimed by Nashville on Wednesday. Then, a few days later, he gave his new team the lead, making it 2-1 in the last period.
The third period was tense because the hurricanes did their utmost to score the binding goal, because they fell 2-1 for most of the period. As time ended, it seemed that they had no answer to Saros. However, they benefit from a turnover of predators, and Seth Jarvis, with a handy backhand shot, defeated Saros to bind the match 2-2 with just over five minutes in regulations. Of the 12 total shots in the period (six each on both sides), it was the largest that sent the game in the extension.

The hurricanes committed a penalty in the extension, which was a precious one, because Joakim Kemell let them pay and scored the second Power-Play goal of the predators of the game. Another former Hurricanes player, Brady Skjei, offered the primary assist when Kemell scored at 4:44 to claim the victory for the home team. The comeback for the hurricanes fell short when they ended their 2025 preseason.
The hurricanes start their regular season on Thursday, October 9, against the New Jersey Devils with Puck Drop planned at 7:30 PM Eastern. As for the predators, they also start their season on October 9, because they organize the Columbus Blue Jackets. Their puck drop is Eastern at 8 p.m.
