UCL Fantasy: Matchday 4 Scout Picks

It’s time to commit our Matchday 4 Scout picks for UEFA Champions League (UCL) Fantasy.

Please note that these selections apply separately for the upcoming matchday. UCL Fantasy also allows manual substitutions from calendar day to calendar day, so we want a strong squad of fifteen and not just a starting eleven with unusable bench fodder.

Goalkeepers

Milinkovic-Savic Napoli

Goalies generally have limited scoring potential in each round, so it is wise to spend as little as possible here and invest more heavily in the outfield positions.

With that approach, that of Napoli Vanja Milinković-Savić (€ 4.0 million) stands out. He plays a home game against Frankfurt, which offers a decent chance of return at a low cost.

If Milinković-Savić doesn’t deliver, the backup option will Luiz Junior (€3.9 million). Villarreal will face a Pafos side that is among the weakest in the league, with strong clean sheet potential and an easy transition between matchdays.

Defenders

FPL notes: Gabriel hits, why Saliba was a sub + Livramento injury 3

Inter have continued their strong defensive form from last season, keeping three clean sheets in as many Champions League matches. Their back-three system gives the full-backs a lot of freedom Denzel Dumfries (€6.1 million) and Federico Dimarco (€5.5 million) attractive options. A home game against a struggling Kairat side offers both safety of a clean sheet and attacking advantage for the pair.

Another possible doubling is Gabriel Magalhaes (€5.5 million) and Myles Lewis-Skelly (€4.5 million) from Arsenal. Rotation is likely for the Premier League side, but UCL Fantasy managers will benefit from seeing the confirmed line-up before the deadline. Arsenal have been excellent defensively – seven clean sheets in the Premier League and three out of three in the Champions League – so an investment in two defenders could pay off.

Completing the defense is Malick Thiaw (€4.5 million). Newcastle have proven themselves again this season, with clean sheets in half of their Premier League games and two of their three UCL games. Thiaw also leads his defender teammates in goal attempts, adding a small but valuable attacking threat.

Midfielders

FPL Notes: Saka on Pens, Odegaard Injury + Gabriel's DefCons

Barcelona once again showed their attacking prowess with a 6-1 win over Olympiacos in Matchday 3. They now face Club Brugge, who are coming off a 4-0 defeat, so targeting the Catalan midfield seems sensible. Fermin Lopez (€6.4 million) comes in after a hat-trick, while Lamine Yamal (€9.9 million) has produced at least one attacking return in eleven of his first thirteen games this season.

Napoli sit at the top of Serie A and have a great chance to respond after their disappointing loss to PSV. With Kevin De Bruyne sidelined, Scott McTominay (7.0 million euros) should continue to play a key role. He scored twice against PSV and followed that up with another goal against Inter, keeping his goal threat high.

Juventus have been inconsistent but are unbeaten at home and this is a venue where they have scored four goals against both Inter and Dortmund earlier in the season. The standout option remains Kenan Yildiz (€6.7 million). He did not feature in the most recent league match, but reliable sources have confirmed that he is fit and available.

Finally, access to Arsenal team news before the deadline could be crucial. They play against the struggling Slavia Praha team and rotation is expected. If Bukayo Saka (€9.5 million) is named in the starting XI, he becomes an almost essential choice due to penalties and general involvement.

Come on

FPL notes: Unstoppable Haaland + why Reijnders was benched

Erling Haaland (€10.6m) continued his excellent form this weekend, scoring twice – the seventh time he has scored for club and country this season. Dortmund may look like a tougher game on paper, but they have shown defensive weaknesses in the Champions League. Facing his former club and playing at home offers two additional advantages for the Norwegian penalty taker.

Galatasaray were impressive in their win over Bodø/Glimt in matchday three, and a similar scenario is possible this week against an Ajax side who are joint-worst in the league in terms of goals conceded. Leading the line is Victor Osimhen (€7.5 million). He scored twice and was named Player of the Match last time, but also missed five big chances, which shows just how many chances he can get.

Atlético Madrid are yet to fully click in the Champions League, but their three consecutive wins in La Liga suggest momentum is building. Central to this Julian Alvarez (€9.0 million). He is their penalty taker and now faces a USG side who have conceded eight goals in their last two Champions League games. The fixture gives him an excellent platform to deliver.
