The nets started their president slate on Saturday with a song crunch and busy schedule.
They will end it for weeks from now on with a fight until opening evening for the last place of the team.
That fight can be Tyrese Martin.
Nets players have offered almost universally unaffected praise for Martin, running about his game in offseason runs and training camp practices.
And Brooklyn has held him as an example for his young people of how to wear themselves, how to fight for their job.
But Martin knows that his own work is not nearly safe. Not yet.
“I would never say that I am actually on a solid foot, you know?” said Martin, with a non -gegarande deal of $ 2.2 million. “Even if it is guaranteed, things are still not guaranteed, especially in this industry. So that’s just my way of thinking.
“I feel the chance I got, I showed what I can do to them and my teammates,” said Martin, who scored three points and took three rebounds in 16 minutes in the 123-88 Blowout victory of the Nets on Hapoel Jerusalem. So, being consistent and trusting my work on every occasion I get, I feel that it has paid off. “
It has given him almost universal praise from teammates and coaches for his summer work. But will that be enough?
The nets have 21 players in the camp, 15 already on guaranteed contracts. They have to go to 15 standard deals and three two -way by the start of the season.
The three players on partial or not – Gegarandende Deals – Jalen Wilson, Drew Timme and Martin – is the path of the least resistance. But Martin resists.
Since he was a second round pick in 2022, Martin came in every low season to play in the summer competition and to toil in the G-League, travel and try for teams. That is, until last year’s breakthrough in Brooklyn.
After he had imposed a training camp invitation in a two-way deal he surpasses, Martin finished fifth in the nets in competitions and sixth in minutes.

Finally a house – weak as it was – allowed him to spend this out of season to focus less on finding a job and more on improving his profession.
“This was the first summer that I could actually work on my game and was focused on getting better,” said Martin, 26. “[Before] I was traveling and training for teams, or I didn’t get that much individual work. … so this is the first summer since the Predraft 2022 that I was able to actually work on my game individually and to concentrate on it.
“Last year I was in a position where I played a lot on the ball, so this summer we worked at the ball in my hand … Making decisions, reading two feet, not to turn … And just be aggressive, trusting the work I did – whether it was peanuts shot, peanuts shot, peannhill, play. I feel. I feel. [that] Played a role in this training camp and the best form that I am now in. “
Teammates are buzzing about that form.
“Tyrese is really the most impressive player I have seen in the team so far,” said newcomer Michael Porter Jr. “I didn’t know much about him, but he consistently killed Scrimmages, Open Runs. He is a player who can slide at that point watch place, but can also play the two. He can pass. He has been really impressive.”
Holdovers such as Zaire Williams and Jordi Fernández have noticed Martin’s growth.
“He has been better with his handle and decision -making. We all know that he can make shots. He also worked on his body,” Fernández said. “I would call him one of our adults, give the good example. That is why he is respected by all his teammates.
“Tyrese is a super pro [with his] coherence. Not only consistent with his work, but also his personality and how he behaves. Even-shouted, never too high, never too low, always a good example for the rest. Doesn’t say much, but if he says something, it’s useful. All those things are important today, and we also try to build up in the future. Tyrese has been great. ‘
But great enough to be part of that future Build? That is the question.
