Pacers’ All-Star PG Tyrese Haliburton recently appeared on the Impaulsive Podcast. Haliburton discussed various topics during the show. At one point he started talking about one of his most unique friendships in the NBA.

Tyrese Haliburton explained how he has a close friendship with Joel Embiid in Philadelphia. He is known as remote and has a distant personality. The PG of Indiana, however, shared how Embiid faceted him out of season this season to check his Achilles recovery. Haliburton knows that this is not something that Embiid would do for every player, and he appreciates their friendship.

Last summer Joel Embiid and Tyrese Haliburton won gold medals with Team USA at the Olympic Games in Paris. That is probably where they first started beating it. Members of Team USA Basketball spent a lot of time together in the summer of 2024. Since the Olympic Games, Embiid and Haliburton have become even closer. Both players currently have to deal with long-term injuries that will influence their 2025-26 season.

Tyrese Haliburton tore his Achilles -Tendon in game 7 of the NBA Finals 2025. He is out for at least 15 months and is only available in 2026-27. Joel Embiid has to deal with a chronic knee injury and last season only played 19 games for the 76 people. The team is not certain whether Embiid is ready for training camp in the fall.

With both players who have long -term injuries, they have come closer as friends. Tyrese Haliburton shared on the impaulsive podcast that Embiid recently facetimated him. The PG of Indiana knew that Embiid was really checking him because he rarely contacts other players. Unfortunately, the injury judgment of Embiid is not as optimistic as Haliburton’s.

Yes, Tyrese Haliburton tore his Achilles and will miss the entire season 2025-26. However, Embiid has been dealing with a persistent knee injury for years. He played 58 games for the 76 people in their last two regular seasons. During that time he missed 106 matches for Philadelphia.
