Miami Heat Star Guard Tyler Herro will soon be eligible to tackle a three-year-old, $ 149.7 million extension until the two years he has already left for his current four-year-old, $ 120 million Rookie scale contract.
Heat, Tyler Herro has until October 20 to reach an extension
Herro hopes to get a deal next month.
“I expect to get something done,” said Herro about his contract extension window that opens on Wednesday and runs until October 20, the day before the NBA opens the regular season 2025-26.
“It is not as important if you all think, I will say,” Herro added. “It’s not that important to me. Being here is important – but here with a respectable number, I should say. And for me I have a song in my mind, as I did with the last contract extension.”

“And that is why I did not accept the Max, because I did not press it, and I am not pressed on it now. I feel that many people have postponed that it is $ 50 million or nothing,” Herro added.
“And it is not. Do you know what I mean? And at the end of the day I want to be here, as I said. But it is about respect at the end of the day. So we will see what happens.”
If no agreement is reached before 20 October, Herro would be eligible to sign an extension of four years, $ 206.9 million. He is eligible Supermax (five years, $ 380 million) if he is called All-NBA in 2025-26.
The timing of the expansion window is supplied with Herro for at least the first month of the regular season after recent ankle operation, so that he goes aside for training camp.
Herro earned the first All-Star selection in 2025
Moreover, Herro does not consider wounded as a negotiation, because the 25-year-old will still remain under contract in the coming two seasons.
“I have left my deal for two more years,” he said. “And this should not hinder nothing. I will come back damn near November 15, is the last new thing I am back, right? So you don’t notice that I am gone. I will be back pretty quickly.”
Although Herro injured in the past, the former sixth man of the year last season appeared in a career-high 77 games. Miami lost all five games he missed.
For a fourth consecutive season, Herro had on average at least 20 points, and he finished 2024-25 with five games of at least 35 points, a career-best 47.2% of the field and 5.5 assists per game.
Herro also earned his first All-Star appearance.
After a career year, the Kentucky product finds that he deserves an extension.
“It’s important for me,” said Herro about the expansion. “I’ve been here for six years. I feel like I deserve it. I am not saying what I have earned, but I deserved something. And I think I deserve it and I want to be here in the end.
“And I said that vocally. But I want to say, it’s not like a top priority, and I am not going to hinder this season to get an extension or not.”
