This event also confirms the evolving role of Dubai as a global MMA hub. It is made possible by the multi -year partnership of PFL with the Dubai Sports Council and the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism. Since the official launch in November 2024, the ‘Road to Dubai’ campaign has brought a series of PFL Global MMA events to the VAE, so that the region is placed as the center for elite combat sports. Although the road to Dubai Final is planned for January, this October event is an extra showcase, designed to build Momentum and further involve fans for the final.

Usman Nurmagomedov vs. Paul Hughes – PFL lightweight world title
The couple met for the first time last January in the location where they collide again in October and deliver an immediate fight for the annual candidate. The event sold Coca-Cola Arena, with fans traveling from Russia and Ireland, creating a charged atmosphere for an electric five-round battle. While Nurmagomedov appeared as a victor, the result led to a fierce debate among fans, many of whom found that Hughes had done enough for the victory, making it a scene for a non-Miss-Rematch between two of the world’s most elite lightweights.
Fed by the loss, Hughes came back with a statement victory, exciting fans this May with a stopping of 42 seconds from Bruno Miranda for a sold-out crowd in Belfast. After the fight, he made his intentions clear: “Usman Nurmagomedov! You can run and postpone this rematch as long as you want, but your day is coming.”
In the meantime, Nurmagomedov remains unbeaten and is generally considered one of the technically complete hunters in MMA. Competing in what many consider as the toughest division of the sport, the CV of the 27-year-old champion victories on elite opponents, including former champions Patricky Pitbull and Benson Henderson, as well as Alexander Shabliy.
Corey Anderson vs. Dovlet Yagshimuradov – PFL Light heavyweight world title
This light heavyweight world title competition is also a rematch of their 2021 Bellator World Grand Prix Quarterfinal, where Corey Anderson earned a third round finish about Yagshimuradov. Anderson then won the Bellator Light Heavyweight Championship and the most recently 2024 PFL heavily weighted Champion Denis Goltsov handed his first loss in almost two years and stopped him last month at PFL Champions Series: Road to Dubai – Cape Town.
