Looking ahead
Recruit before 2026 Haoxi Wang becomes a Terrier, he will be an IceDog for the remainder of the OHL season. The San Jose Sharks’ 2025 second-round pick was traded from last-place Oshawa to playoff contender Niagara on Jan. 8, looking to bolster its defensive corps.
The 6-foot-1 defenseman had a 2-11-13 mark in 28 games for the Generals. In four starts for Niagara, he has a goal and three assists. Wang assisted on a pair of goals — including the overtime game winner — in Sunday’s 4-3 win over second-place Brantford.
In his first game with the Ice Dogs, Wang scored his third goal and assisted on the game winner in a 4-2 victory over Sudbury, earning the game’s third star.
