Los Angeles police are investigating an apparent murder at director Rob Reiner’s home in Brentwood, where two people were found dead.
The bodies of a 78-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman were found in the home of Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner.
But the names of the victims have not been released.
Law enforcement sources confirmed there were no signs of forced entry into the home.
The Los Angeles Fire Department was called to the home for medical assistance on Sunday around 3:30 p.m. Firefighters found the bodies of the man and woman in the home.
Reiner, 78, has had a five-decade career in Hollywood
Early in his career, he played Michael “Meathead” Stivic on the iconic sitcom Everything in the family from 1971 to 1979.
As a director, Reiner directed a string of hits, including When Harry met Sally, the princess bride, this is Spinal Tap, stay with me And Some good men.
Michele Singer Reiner started producing films including Shock and Awe, Albert Brooks: Defending My Life and the recent one Spinal Tap II: The ending continuesall directed by her husband.
Rob Reiner was also a leading political voice in Hollywood. He co-founded the American Foundation for Equal Rights, the organization that led the fight to overturn Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage. He has also been active on children’s issues over the years, leading the campaign to pass Proposition 10, the California Children and Families Initiative, which created an ambitious early childhood development services program.
Proposition 10 was considered a landmark policy. Reiner enlisted the help of Steven Spielberg, Robin Williams and his own father, comedy legend Carl Reiner.
Reiner was also married to star of Penny Marshall Laverne and Shirley, from 1971 to 1981.
