The Minnesota Twins are easily one of the most unlikely teams in Major League Baseball after the MLB -Handelsdeadline saw the front office intestine. Making things worse for Twins fans was the fact that the Pohlad family announced shortly after the deadline that they would retain the majority of the twin franchise after they would sell the team a large part of the past year. With the season in the rearview mirror, the Pohlad family has unveiled the scapegoat for the season, Announcement of manager Rocco Baldelli will not return.
Earlier this season, despite the fact that Baldelli’s task status was in the case after the team had missed the Play -Offs in 2024, the twins leaked that they had already exercised his option for the 2026 season. Of course that decision was made before the twin season was completely off the rails.
Twins make Rocco Baldelli pay when offsean starts in chaos
With a selection that forced fans to go Google players names during the last months of the season, the twins ended with a record of 70-92. If the Chicago White Sox was not in the American League Central, the twins would easily have been the worst team in their division.
No one will claim that Baldelli should have been kept as manager of the twins, but the way in which this decision takes place speaks part of the last calendar year in the middle of the franchise dysfunction. The Pohlad family often says one thing, but their actions give a very different impression. That leaves twin fans in the uncomfortable position to follow a team with a lifeless schedule and no direction.
It is difficult to imagine that the opening of the twins is one of the favorite jobs that is available out of season this season. The Baltimore Orioles and San Francisco Giants are already looking for a new manager and each have a clearer path to compete in 2026 compared to the twins. The twins can be forced to hire a bridge manager while they look to get the organization back on the right track after a miserable season from 2025.
