The MLB trade is this Thursday, and yet, as Minnesota Twins President of Baseball Operations, Derek Falmvey, can be believed, his teams are not ready to close deals. By talking to reporters the weekend, Faaldie gave that teams are still in the phase of collecting information from trade discussions.
“There are many discussions, don’t get me wrong,” said Feal. “There are many phone calls back and forth. But in terms of actual proposals and offers this stuff often comes as you get much closer to the deadline. In some of these conversations they are not yet advanced, because it is just timing.”
That does not correspond exactly with what happened in Major League Baseball during the weekend. There have been two remarkable transactions with Josh Naylor who from the Arizona Diamondbacks to the Seattle Mariners and Ryan McMahon went from the Colorado Rockies to the New York Yankees. There have also been a few smaller movements with the Baltimore Orioles that move a relief to the New York Mets, and The Yankees also add Rosario.

The movement at the weekend would suggest that teams go beyond the collecting information phase. With the Deadline on Thursday, Fighty should have all the information he needs.
It remains unlikely that Joe Ryan will be moved at the deadline, but the twins have various rental players who can be the target of the warring teams. Willi Castro thinks it is a valuable trading ship for the twins, given his ability to play in the Infield and the Outfield. Of course larger deals with a growing expectation will fall that one of Jhoan Duran or Griffin Jax could also be on the move.
With a sale of the team that looms up, the fear that the Falmvey’s Front Office would not have an urgent approach to the deadline this season. After his comments at the weekend it is difficult to say that that will not be the case. That would be an almost worst scenario for the Twins, given that there is a path to return to Al Central Relevance with the right deals before Thursday.
