Twins fans knew that Bobby Witt Jr. was on the run from Platinum Glove after the clutch game six months ago

Major League Baseball is highlighted by two special superstars. Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani and Yankees’ Aaron Judge steal most of the headlines when it comes to the discussion of who is the best player in the MLB.

But Twins fans know all too well that Bobby Witt Jr. of Royals deserves all the recognition as these two aforementioned stars. Witt Jr. took a Silver Slugger this season together with Byron Buxton and also won his second Gold Glove Award in a row. But it didn’t stop there.

In his age 25 season, Bobby Witt Jr. the American League Platinum Glove Award for the 2025 season, and Twins fans aren’t surprised at all. One particular play from the year stood out as Minnesota fans watched during a day game on May 24.

With one out in the bottom of the ninth, Christian Vazquez came into action against Daniel Lynch IV. In a 4-4 game with Carlos Correa at first base, Vazquez popped out to shallow left field. The ball was sure to dive in – Twins fans thought – but Witt Jr. ran to the outfield with his back to the baseball. He robbed Vazquez of a single after an acrobatic play over the shoulder to keep Correa in first. Witt Jr. was in the 100th percentile in OAA this season at 24and this game certainly helped inflate those stats.

Twins fans also remember that game fondly because Brooks would put Lee Correa on a walk-off single. It would be one of ten walk-offs for Minnesota this past season, but they had to work a little harder in this game because of Witt Jr.

Through four MLB seasons, Witt Jr. a 21.7 bWAR, two Gold Gloves, two Silver Sluggers, two All-Stars and one Top 2 MVP finish (and there may be another to come). The Twins are a career .295 hitter and somehow find themselves on the better side of the line against Witt Jr. He has a career .272 clip against Minnesota. While the club has his number (somewhat) for now, Twins fans are only starting to warm up to Bobby Witt Jr.’s superstardom.
