Stefanos Tsitsipas is located on unknown territory on the way to the Rolex Shanghai Masters this year.

Normally at this time of the year the former number 3 in the PIF ATP ranking list is very much in the hunt for a berth at the Nitto ATP Finals, an event that he won during the debut in 2019, and where he qualified for five consecutive years until 2023.

After an almost -lady last season, the Greek seems to be destined to be the season finale again. He also fought back a complaint and goes according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss index to the eighth ATP Masters 1000 Tournament of the Year with a modest record of 22-18 in the year.

However, the news is not all bad. The 27-year-old is hopeful that the recent treatment on his back will enable him to play more freely, and he said that his sometimes Rocky Coaching Relation with his father Apostolos is in a very health place.

“We have changed our dynamics a lot and I am actually very happy with the way we all work together and now work together,” Tsitsipas Atptour.com told. “It is very refreshing as a player to have this relationship with a father.

“It is exactly where I wanted it to be long now. And I am happy. He has adapted to my needs and I have adapted to his needs. And we have both made a kind of dynamic that one is to be proud of.”

While he is open to adding a new voice to his coaching team, Tsitsipas said that he has a lot of respect for his father’s years of experience in the game.

“My father has been on the tour for many years, even dates from my mother’s playing days. So he has a lot of tennis in his life,” he said. “I am extremely proud to call him my coach and my father. But first of all, my father. Secondly, my coach.

‘I see it for sure [our current coaching partnership] As something sustainable. In the future I would be interested in adding a person in my team who can work and work with my father. It is clear that he is not becoming younger, so if I can find the right person, he can be a bit on the side of my father, with a clear, fresher mindset.

“That can also enable my father to take a step back to give a little back to enjoy life, because it is not only tennis. And I remind him and tell him this for a long time.”

The Tsitsipas solution has been tested this year. After five top 10 ends between 2019-2023, and a number 11 last year, the former world No. 3 went to number 25 in the PIF ATP ranking.

His goals for the last weeks of the season – including playing the last week of the regular season at home in Athens.

“My focus would be a combination to see what my back can do now and reconnect with the victories,” said the dual Grand Slam finalist. “At the top of my list now, I would certainly like to see a few games in a row without back pain.”

Tsitsipas rejected reports that he had undergone a back operation and said that a hospital visit was alone for “a special type of investigation”.

“I will not comment on details, but it is something that helped me a lot. I have adjusted and repaired my back. So I just wait to see how that reacts in competitions and how I can compete in a much healthy state.”

Tsitsipas, who only played two Davis Cup matches [in Athens] Since the US Open, he said he feels fresh and charged after vacation time in Greece, where he visited museums and historic sites, such as the Athens Acropolis Museum, the Temple of Apollo and the National Gardens. He also practiced three times with Novak Djokovic.

“Getting to know Novak in a deeper way was fun, because you don’t have that chance on the Tour,” Tsitsipas said. “And I spent a lot of time in contact with my mind in Greece. I actually had a great time to explore my own country and do things that I found spiritually satisfactory.

“I certainly needed that break. I only realized that when I was there. I spent a lot of time with my little sister, my brother Petros, whom I always see playing with him to double. That is something that I miss a bit in my daily life, a bit of humanity, especially when you are constantly stressed and hunting on tournaments, all.

Tsitsipas, who defeated Djokovic in Shanghai in 2019 on his way to his best semi -final during the event, opens his campaign against Portugal’s Nuno Borges on Saturday.
