Kostas Tsimikas will be recalled by Liverpool as fellow left-back Andy Robertson completes a move to Tottenham.

Tsimikas, who currently plays for Roma, could be recalled early from his loan spell in Serie A if Robertson were to leave.

The Liverpool vice-captain, whose contract expires this summer, is considering a permanent transfer to Tottenham This is Anfield understands that there are plans for replacement if the move takes place.

This will likely take the form of Tsimikas breaking off his season-long loan in Italy to return to Merseyside, despite there being no formal recall clause in his loan deal.

In terms of young left-backs at the club, Owen Beck and Luke Chambers are promising talents, but the former is injured and the latter has just been loaned out to Charlton.

That leaves 20-year-old Calum Scanlon, who made his return this month after almost eleven months of absence due to a hamstring injury.

However, the most likely scenario is that Tsimikas will return and serve as a backup to the rapidly improving Kerkez.

The legendary Bob Paisley was born on this day in Hetton-Le-Hole 1919.

He was the greatest English manager of all time, taking over from Bill Shankly. He won 13 major trophies in just under a decade as Liverpool boss, including three European Cups and six league titles.

Paisley dedicated his life to Liverpool and won 31 trophies at Anfield, signing as a player for Bishop Auckland in 1939 and eventually retiring in 1983.
