Laura Loomer, a right-wing political influencer known for her Islamophobic views and fierce online attacks on figures seen as insufficiently loyal to President Donald Trump, has reportedly been given the authority to report on the Pentagon.
Loomer’s alleged entry into the Defense Department, first reported by The Washington Postcomes as virtually all mainstream news organizations in the Pentagon’s press corps surrendered their badges last month rather than agree to a restrictive new Trump administration policy on reporting on the military.
The independent has contacted the Pentagon and Loomer for comment.
The new media policy prohibits reporters from requesting information from military officials without prior approval from the Pentagon, and nearly every U.S. news organization — including Trump-friendly networks like Fox News and Newsmax — has rejected it.
The Pentagon Press Association has called the policy an “unprecedented message of intimidation,” suggesting it is “criminal to speak without explicit permission.”

Loomer, a podcast host and political consultant, has become a prominent figure on the right through a combination of viral stunts, Islamophobic comments and online “vetting” campaigns against proposed and current Trump administration officials.
The Florida-based commentator, who has met with the president several times since taking office, claims her advocacy has led to multiple firings of top officials, including the removal of National Security Agency head Gen. Timothy Haugh and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.
Loomer was also credited in August with influencing a U.S. decision to suspend humanitarian visas for Palestinians seeking emergency humanitarian authorization to receive medical care in the U.S.
Her attacks include devastating takedowns of the Defense Department which she is now reportedly tasked with covering.
Last month, Loomer claimed she will not vote in 2026 in protest of a partnership between the US and Qatari forces at an air base in Idaho.

“I did not vote for the Islamization of my country. If the Republican Party allows Muslims to have military bases on American soil, knowing that these Qataris finance HAMAS and the Muslim Brotherhood, then voting in 2026 is a waste of time,” Loomer wrote online.
Loomer’s vocal criticism online and advocacy within the White House have reportedly angered some within the Trump camp.
“Trump loves Laura, and she clearly has some influence, but she risks overestimating her influence and blowing herself up if she isn’t more careful,” said an anonymous source close to the White House. told WIRED.
A Pentagon press badge would be a coup for Loomer, who was previously better known for the media platforms she kicked off for behavior including hateful comments.

She was banned from Twitter in 2018 and Facebook in 2019, and last month the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear her legal efforts to sue social media platforms.
Outside of her media work, Loomer has unsuccessfully run for Congress twice.
