The Trump administration has finally published New guidance those states can use to make $ 5 billion in financing for infrastructure for electric vehicles, after months withdraw the money.

A Coalition of States Completed about the Freeze financing in the NEVI program of the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI), which was one of the many attempts of the administration to stop the financing assigned by the congress at the start of Donald Trump’s second term. A judge ruled in June that those states were probably succeed and has issued an order against the expenditure of the administration.

The Ministry of Transport (DOT), led by former MTV personality Sean Duffy, has criticized the states because they took too long to spend the money. From May, around 84% of $ 5 billion (authorized as part of the two -part infrastructure law) was still waiting to be mandatory and only a few dozen chargers were built.

Duffy and De Dot also claimed that the financing was only stopped while a “assessment process” was carried out to ensure that the NEVI program is in line with the priorities of the administration. A new press release that is published on Monday reveals what that means.

It is not surprising that the new guidance focuses on simplifying the assessment process for the charging stations. This means that states will no longer have to consider consumer protection, emergency evacuation plans, environmental matters and other rather required steps before construction can begin. The DOT has also required a certain percentage of the charging stations in rural, disadvantaged or disadvantaged communities.

The DOT further removed the language from the guidelines that require proposals for financing to “demonstrate how the implementation will promote strong labor, safety training and installation standards.” And the dot struck language that applicants forced to offer opportunities to small companies in the minority and women to get involved.
