New year… but old traditions! In other words: as usual, we bring travel news on Mondays. We went through the very first (and very last) press releases in the field of travel, camping and tourism. Here you will find the first travel news of the year, in the form of short announcements!
Strong increase in the number of newly registered mobile homes in 2025
The National Association of the Motorhome and Motorhome Industry (HRF) reports that new registrations of motorhomes have risen sharply in 2025, while new registrations of caravans have declined. In 2025, a total of 5,638 vehicles were registered for mobile living in Sweden, compared to a total of 4,576 in 2024. Behind the increase lies an increased interest in mobile homes in particular.
- Camper registrations in 2025: 4,200 mobile homes, compared to 2,877 the year before. Increase: 45.99%
- Caravan registrations in 2025: 1,438 caravans, compared to 1,701 the year before. Decrease: -15.46%
Swedes will travel here in 2026
Interest in traveling before 2026 continues to increase. Spain retains the top spot as the most booked country for 2026, according to Ticket’s top list, and the number of bookings there has so far increased by 17 percent compared to last year. Other European countries rising are Italy (+69 percent), Portugal (+89 percent) and Great Britain (+30 percent).

One of the most obvious changes before 2026 is that Japan will enter the top list as a newcomer. This means that Cyprus, despite a growth of 36 percent, falls out of the top list.
The US stands out as the only country on the top list where bookings are declining, with a drop of just over 21 percent. At the same time, this summer’s World Cup can help influence development in a more positive direction.
