Travel Friday on the way home from Copenhagen – Travel Friday

It’s not even noon tonight, but it’s pitch black outside my train window. November is here with notice! While darkness and coziness have their benefits, a month like this needs to be enlivened in several ways. Like traveling to Copenhagen for example. So that’s what I did yesterday! Here are the five of the week with different things I do, have done or want to do to spread some glitter over the eleventh and penultimate month of the year.

Traveling home from Copenhagen on Friday

#1. A day in Copenhagen

Last spring, Nelly and I went to LEGOLAND with my brother and his children. On the way home we passed Copenhagen…

…for a few hours in a city where bed linen aired, green leaves exploded and the sun showed its best side. I want to come back here soon, I thought.

So I did yesterday, to spend a very successful day in the capital of Denmark. Lisa and I took the train to interview CopenKlara for an episode of the Att resa podcast. The theme? Traveling to Copenhagen of course!

After the podcast recording we went into the village and benefited from some tips from Klara. We went to very good restaurants, stopped at a wine bar and of course also took the opportunity to take a sauna (including an obligatory dip in Östersund). I’ll write more about Copenhagen and of course shout out when the episode comes out.

#2. Last minute trip to unknown destination

I regularly come up with the idea of going to Arlanda or Stockholm Central to catch the first available departure.

train Östersund

Wasn’t that a great way to brighten up this month? One last minute everywhere.

#3. Vietnamese food at Cong in Gamla Stan

Last week my cousin reached out and asked if we would meet in Stockholm to hang out, like go to a museum, have coffee or eat at a restaurant.

All said and done, after throwing around a few different suggestions, we both decided to have dinner at Cong Vietnamese restaurant in Old Town. It was not possible to reserve a table so we went there quite early to get a seat. And listen, I’m happy to recommend this place. Served here Real good main dishes (although you can skip the mango salad). I’ll be back here!

#4. The comfort during autumn

Despite the rain and debris, I really tried to get outside for a while every day this week.

autumn Nynäshamn

You could say that some moments have been more fun than others, at least if you ask me and my now discarded umbrella.

A week ago, it felt like the bed of leaves on the ground during my walk in the woods was the fall leaves’ answer to glowing coals. It was colorful, crackling and intense. When I did the same round this week, the leaves in question had all rotted away, soon only the poor leaf skeletons were left. The next day I exchanged the forest tour for breakfast at Espresso House, where I ate the first ham sandwich of the year.

autumn in the old town

However, Old Town never disappoints me! I prefer to visit this neighborhood all year round.

#5. Nice visit from Malmö

The chance that I will be in Malmö at the same time as my sister is in Nynäshamn is not that great…

malmö

…since I live in Nynäshamn and she lives in Malmö. But that’s exactly what happened earlier today. When I left for Malmö yesterday, she got in the car towards Nynäshamn (with an overnight stay in Östergötland) to spend the weekend with me and my family. Now I hope my train home from Malmö runs at turbo speed so I don’t miss any unnecessary time with my adorable little nieces and nephews. How wonderful that the nurse has planned a November weekend with us! Visiting relatives will be the fifth and final item in this Friday five things I’m doing to brighten up this month – which I think is one of the most boring of the year.

Thanks for me and have a nice weekend!
