Hopeful, but not sure.

Butcher only trains a handful of horses, but two of them were able to win on Friday evening in similar circumstances when both Mantra Blue and Princess Gracy sprinted one one to win closely.

In Mantra Blue’s (Dear Lou) Case The victory wore much more merit because she raced at the most important pace of the night and had to overcome a 30 -meter handicap to get into a single position in the first place.

The victory reflected a large part of her shape since he returned this year from a long break and won well without being dazzling, although heavy treks and handicaps have made life a lot harder for her than most intermediate quality mares have ever had to deal.

Later in the program, after the second place, Princess Gracy was to Captains Mistress in a stacked Sires’ Stakes Final in the fall and wore a brave I’m I’m Sandra Dee, a horse butter drove last Friday.

Butcher plans to take both girls to the south at a certain stage this spring, but the younger legs of Princess Gracy make her the more clear traveler.

“She will certainly go and be set for the Nevele R series that has its final on the NZ Cup Day and then the NZ Oaks down there,” says Butcher.

“She is a good mandrow and will improve with that victory.”

Butcher had previously reserved the new Mars series races in Canterbury for Mantra Blue, but says that although that is still possible, he will let his stable star tell him how involved she is.

“She is now a slightly older mare and has a few problems,” he explains.

“She has the strange breathing problem, almost a bit like Hayfever in the spring, which can make it a bit tricky.

“And like many horses that have raced in those good races, she has some leg clothing.

“So we take it a race at the same time with her.

“She could come there for two or three of those merren races or we can set her up for the Bob Mcardle final, which is the race that I would really have to win with her because of Bob’s association with our family.”

Butcher was not the only stable on Friday with a two -squeeze in the park, a meeting with a lightning delay, almost unheard of in New Zealand Harness Racing.

Before all that drama, the Ray Green and Nathan Delany Stable trained an early double with Tyson really brave in the first map and then Sugar Ray Lincoln continues his shape revival in Race 3.

Sugar Ray Lincoln is a brother of the former double two-time New Zealand Cup hero copy of the stable that and after watching the goods last season a disappointing start until 2025.

“He had hoof problems and we have done a lot of work on it and we now see the benefits of it,” says Delany.

“He is not finished winning and neither of them has Tyson, who also had a few problems, but now racing about those now and good.

“The team is going well, so we are very happy.”

Mantra Blue was not the only winner who conquered a large handicap on Friday evening when Bolt for the Hill 20M started to win his trot for Stephanie Burley, while Belle Neige came out of the 30m mark to beat Castana in the main trot, which again suggests that she has open class speed.

Other highlights of the Night were Brooke Wilkins who records her first new -Zeeland row -victory with Alecto in Dunstan Horsefeeds Sires’ Stakes Heat and Redpark Warrior who overcome an early accident to continue in his winning way in the juvenile trot.
