The Edmonton Oilers are braced for what a big commotion could be in the goal. On the DFO -Dish podcastInsider Jason Gregor strongly hinted that a change is coming and said: “I will be surprised as after the trading deadline … The same two goalkeepers in Edmonton are in Pickard and Skinner. I just think it is inevitable that a change will be made.”
That prediction – while it has heard most of what fans has heard throughout the summer – reflects the increasing pressure on general director Stan Bowman to strengthen the fold prior to another play -off push.
Stuart Skinner has been good enough to help the oilers reach back-to-back Stanley Cup final, but his inconsistency has wondered whether the long-term team can really trust him with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl Diepes and the team takes a bit back from the 2023444.
The merit of Skinner has shown remarkable resilience for a 26-year-old keeper. Former Oiler Devan Dubnyk praised his growth and noticed: “He is only 26 and already has more playoff experience than three-quarters of the competition will ever. That is remarkable. And he just touches his prime.”
But as the oilers have proven with two close calls but no championships, the Playoff experience does not always translate into winning the Stanley Cup.
Early Trade Chatter coupled with the Oilers Returns
Trade chatter has already started. James Nichols van NJ Hockey Now Says that Nico Daws from New Jersey, a promising 24-year-old net, is on the rise as a potential target. At the same time, the prospect of Detroit Sebastian Cossa – a well -known name for the organization – is considered a different possibility. In order for a deal to work, Edmonton could look to move depth contracts such as those of Mattias Janmark, while adding concept capital to align the package.
What is clear is that the oilers do not enter the play -offs without exploring their options. Whether it is a high-up-tandem partner for Skinner or an outright upgrade, Bowman is expected to be aggressive as the deadline approaches.
If a movement occurs, it’s not just about tackling a short -term need. A daring trade could give Edmonton the kind of stability in the goal that has escaped them for years – and possibly turning a very good team into a real cup favorite.
