Tottenham release official statement explaining Thomas Frank’s decision after Newcastle United’s defeat

On June 12, 2025, Tottenham announced Thomas Frank as their new manager.

Less than eight months later, they made an official announcement explaining why he was fired.

This comes just hours after Tottenham and Thomas Frank lost 2-1 at home to Newcastle United and Eddie Howe.

The Tottenham official statement starting: ‘The Club has made the decision to make a change to the position of Men’s Head Coach and Thomas Frank will be leaving today.’

Since the opening day of the season, Thomas Frank and Tottenham have ironically won just one home game in all domestic competitions against Brentford.

However, that is where any positivity ends when you take away Brentford’s manager.

Thomas Frank was sacked when Tottenham were in fifth place in the Premier League, nine places behind…Brentford.

Tottenham further says: ‘Thomas was appointed in June 2025 and we are committed to giving him the time and support necessary to build the future together. However, the results and performance have led the board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary.”

The dismissal is especially shameful as the publication of the latest Brentford accounts today shows that Tottenham have paid the Bees a hefty compensation of £6.7 million.

That equates to around £1 million per month. Thomas Frank remained in this position, but without taking into account his wages and what it will now cost in compensation to fire him, let alone the money he spent on his purchases this season.

Tottenham conclude their official statement with: ‘During his time at the Club, Thomas has shown unwavering commitment and given his all in his efforts to move the Club forward. We thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in the future.’
