Tottenham Hotspur wants to improve the defensive unit and is charmed by South Korean international Kim Min-jae.
The 28-year-old has done quite well in the Bundesliga for Bayern Munich, helping them to the title last season.
Kim Min-jae would be a useful option
Min-jae could be a useful signing for the North London club. However, they are already well stocked in the defensive unit, and it remains to be seen if the South Korean is willing to join them.
He may not be a regular starter for the north London club. Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven precede him in the pecking order. The South Korean defender needs to play regularly at this stage of his career. Tottenham will have to give him guarantees in the first team to convince him.
Minjae has been praised as “flawless” by his compatriot and former Tottenham star Son Heung-min.
Chelsea and Liverpool are also interested
According to TransfersChelsea and Liverpool are also interested in the player. Chelsea looked vulnerable at the back and suffered from several injury problems in defence. Signing a new centre-back is a priority for them, and the South Korean is likely to get plenty of opportunities at the London club.
Likewise, Liverpool will have to replace Ibrahima Konaté, who will be a free agent at the end of the season. They will be able to offer the South Korean plenty of first-team action.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can beat Chelsea and Liverpool with his signature.
Spurs will need to continue to improve the squad if they want to compete with elite clubs and win big trophies. There is no doubt that the 28-year-old defender has the qualities to help them improve. However, they may have to switch to a three-defender formation to slot him into the starting lineup.
