Tottenham eye roll to sign Maghnes Akliouche from AS Monaco

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur star Maghnes Akliouche. TEAMtalk.

Although the Lilywhites decided to strengthen the wide forward position last summer by signing Mohammed Kudus, they have not signed a natural left winger following the departure of Son Heung-min.

Remember new hair

Brennan Johnson and Wilson Odobert are the options that Thomas Frank currently has to deploy on the left flank. But both have shown inconsistent performances so far this season.

On the other hand, Frank has also deployed Randal Kolo Muani, Mathys Tel and Xavi Simons in this position, but the French duo prefers to play centrally, while Simons is a CAM by nature.

Tottenham attempted to buy a new left winger last summer, with Antoine Semenyo and Sabinho emerging as serious options. However, they ultimately failed to finalize a deal to sign either.

Now, TEAMtalk claim Tottenham are ‘very keen’ about strengthening their front line in January and are prioritizing the signing of Semenyo. But Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool are also participating in this race.

Tottenham are therefore lining up potential alternative options if they ultimately fail to secure the Ghanaian’s service and have identified Akliouche as a serious option.

Akliouche is Tottenham

The 23-year-old’s existing contract runs until 2028 and Monaco could be open to letting him leave if they receive a bid of around ÂŁ40 million.

Semenyo is comfortable playing on either flank, but Akliouche is a natural left-footed right-winger and is also comfortable in the creative midfield position when necessary.

Therefore, he would not be an ideal alternative to Semenyo, but Kudus is comfortable on the left wing. Spurs could therefore use both Kudus and Akliouche on either flank if they were to buy the Frenchman.

Akliouche is a technically gifted player, can dribble past opposing defenders in tight spaces, is efficient at making passes between the lines and can create chances for fellow attackers.

In 21 appearances in all competitions he has scored seven goals so far this season. After showing his qualities in Ligue 1, he has secured his place in the French national team.

It will be interesting to see if the North London club will eventually make a concrete move to buy him in January.
