Tottenham 1 Newcastle 1 – Sunday 3 August 2025

Newcastle United Fan/Writer response from some of our regular/irregular contributors on the MAG.

Nat Seaton:

‘A promising display in both halves.

Players who look fit and in it, and some positives to continue the following weekend.

It is not all downfall and gloom at Newcastle, you know … ‘

John Martin:

‘It says it is obvious that we need more signing sessions than just Elanga and Ramsdale.

Especially if that boy leaves Sweden …

But not the worst in the world if we sometimes end up a forward three of Barnes, Gordon and Elanga (or Murphy) this season.

Anthony Gordon was the human of the competition in his striker/free role, caused many problems. ‘

Simon Ritter:

‘Has this kickabout honestly justified the greatest output of emotion since the death of Princess Diana? Or was the long -term departure of Son the reason for this competition?

So much to not like during events in Seoul, although there was also plenty to enjoy in the performance of United.

Every starter received a good run-out, the defense was generally healthy and the broad players exchanged in an impressive role.

Two big plus points: Hall got a few minutes in his legs and no United player seemed unnecessarily hurt by the physical attention of their opponents. ‘

David Point:

‘Pre-season looks a bit like the Twilight zone, but at least we come from this long draft journey with a little fight.

A deserved draw.

We are now going back to the UK.

The hope must now be that the club can have a number of players signed quite damn quickly. ‘

Sam Hepworth:

‘A high -quality team goal, definitely worth ensuring that you see it.

A reminder that Newcastle United may not have too much a crisis.

The Isak situation must be clearly sorted and more signing sessions that are needed in these next four weeks.

This game today and the Arsenal match that United sees more than to keep their own.

Should have gained against Tottenham and earned a draw, at least against Arsenal.

If Eddie Howe has fitted almost everyone (Willock Al Crocked) before the start of the season and with the striker situation sorted somehow, I can see a promising start to the season is more than possible.

Not pretending that everything is suddenly ok on and next to the field, but NUFC has some very good players. ‘

Matt Busby said to Joe Harvey:

‘I saw the second half that is 45 minutes more than one of the other friendly matches for the season.

The positive points are that we ended our losing series, nobody was injured and we will soon be on Tyneside again.

Let’s hope that Eddie can make a difference more close to the Isak (and Sesko) front.

Otherwise I am not very sure what to make of it.

Murphy looked lively, but his end product is still terrible, it was good to see Hall again and Joelinton, combative as always – just ask Archie Gray. I hope we restore the Scalvini interest, because our back line has been exposed more than once.

After he recently visited Seoul, it is a great place and the people are excellent.

The stadium was packed and I heard more tone numbers, although the display of “Nice One Cyril” and “When the Saints” echoing around the stadium. Hats off for the young boy with the trumpet, not busy!

Last points. The lesser spotted Gillespie was seen between the sticks (why?) And does anyone else think that Tommy Frank looks like the chef, Carmy van de Beer? ‘

Tony Mallabar:

‘With Soof Korea was a few hours before us, I had the privilege of waking up this morning at 3.13 am as one of Wor that Owa decided there that I had to see some random tourist photos he had taken. Thank you Flavel.

Regarding the match, a 1-1 draw that was overshadowed by being the swan of the son.

That brings me to our own random/staying forward Mr. Isak.

Don’t get me wrong, ice cold Alex is/was a squat for us, just like son for traces, but players continue, times change.

To put this in perspective, 40 years ago this week, I was on the island of Man to see how we beat Wigan 4-1 in a pre-season-friendly and now we are getting through the whole world for competitions. ‘
