Americans Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe will be back in action on the Toronto Masters 1000 on Friday afternoon. Fritz will continue his campaign against an in-shape Gabriel Diallo, while Tiafoe encounters Aleksandar Vukic.
(27) Gabriel Diallo vs. (2) Taylor Fritz
Diallo must be considered one of the most dangerous players of the Tour outside the top 30, and Fritz recently discovered that in the hard way. The fourth ranking American did not lose his very first matchup, but he was pushed to five sets in Wimbledon before he survived a 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (0), 4-6, 6-3 second round thriller in his final way to the semi-final. Immediately afterwards, Fritz fits in Washington, DC and reached the quarterfinals, but then lost to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in three hours and four minutes.

Diallo’s Gras-Court Swing also contained a title in ‘s-Hertogenbosch and a quarter-final performance in Eastbourne. The 36th ranking is from a third round in DC and he is open third from the National Bank after beating Matteo Gigante 6-3, 7-6 (5) on Wednesday. Fritz, who passed Roberto Carballes Baena 7-5, 7-6 (1), should be well equipped because he lost his elevated norms early in Washington, DC, this will probably be competitive, but Fritz is simply at a different level of Diallo and the Underdog as close to Toronto.
Pick: Fritz in 2
(7) Frances Tiafoe vs. Aleksandar Vukic
This is without a doubt Tiafoe’s most productive time of the year. The US Open and Washington, DC are two favorite tournaments, plus he finished in second place at the Cincinnati Masters from 2024. Tiafoe may not be in a spectacular form at the moment, but last week at least reached the quarterfinals in DC and he opened in a third set in Toronto Watanuke.
Next for the 12th ranking American is a third meeting with Vukic. They split their two previous encounters; Tiafoe won 4-6, 7-6 (7), 6-4 at the 2020 Dallas Challenger before Vukic got the job with 6-2, 7-6 (11) last fall on the inner hard courts of Almaty. Vukic did well to beat Pedro Martinez and Cameron Norrie this week, but the 99th rank Aussie is still a terrible 9-18 at the ATP level in 2025. Calculate Tiafoe who makes things without too many problems.
Pick: Tiafoe in 2
