A winger who has played in the Champions League this season has named Liverpool in his desire to ‘move to a top team’.

The Reds have been linked with Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez on and off in recent weeks, and the Ecuadorian’s teammate Christos Tzolis has had a productive season at the other end of the pitch so far with eleven goals and fifteen assists in thirty games.

TEAMtalk reported earlier this month that Tottenham Hotspur is planning a 40 million euro plan for the Greek striker, who previously played in England with Norwich and has spoken to the Belgian media about the future of his club.

Tzolis could consider joining Liverpool if the opportunity arises

In an interview with The NewspaperThe 23-year-old expressed his desire to join a top European club during his career and specifically mentioned Liverpool, but he insisted he has no plans to leave Club Brugge in the January transfer window.

Tzolis said: “I want to go to a top team. That’s all I can say. I’m not aware of any concrete interest at the moment, so I’m not even considering it. Maybe you know more than me.”

“I would like to win the title here first, although you never know, so I can’t say with 100% certainty that I will stay this winter. If a crazy team comes along, like Barcelona, Liverpool… Anyway, you know what I mean, but I don’t think that will happen in the winter.”

Liverpool are unlikely to move for Tzolis despite good form at Brugge

Despite Tzolis’ good form this season and Liverpool’s attacking options scarce due to the absence of Mo Salah and Alexander Isak, there have been no concrete links between the Reds and the Club Brugge striker, and a January move seems hugely unlikely.

His potential was previously highlighted by his former Norwich boss David Wagner, who raved about the player’s ‘top class’ finishing ability (Pink On), and he has gone from strength to strength in Belgium 32 goals in a season and a half in the Jan Breydel Stadium.

As shown in the table below, the 23-year-old’s underlying performance data over the past twelve months compares very favorably with that of his position peers. FBref terms ‘Men’s Next 14 Competitions’ (i.e. outside the five main national competitions in Europe).

While Tziolis has been hugely impressive for Club Brugge, is it realistic that Liverpool will target a move for him in the coming months with Anfield chiefs seemingly reluctant to block Rio Ngumoha’s path to regular first-team participation?

Even with the injuries the Reds have had in attack in recent weeks, other parts of the squad are likely to be a higher priority in the transfer market. Defensive recruitment is crucial after long-term injury setbacks for Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley.

Nevertheless, it will be intriguing to see if the Greek striker can find his way to a Premier League move in 2026 should he continue his excellent form in Belgium.
