The Proton eMas 7 continues its role as the best-selling electric vehicle (EV) in Malaysia, with the model once again topping the charts in the month of October 2025. According to the latest data from the Road Transport Department (JPJ), 742 units of the SUV were registered last month, down 15 units from the 757 units sold in September.
It remains the category leader, of course, and by a wide margin. As of October, year-to-date (YTD) figures for the model stood at 6,954 units, well more than double that of the second-place vehicle, in this case the BYD Sealion 7, which came third last month (433 units, 3,142 units YTD).
Ahead of it was the BYD Atto 3, with 464 units (3,129 units YTD), while fourth place was taken by another BYD, the Seal 6 EV, with 386 units (444 units YTD). In fifth place was the BYD Atto 2 (325 units, 1,076 units YTD), making four of the top five all from the same brand.

The Zeekr 7X rose one spot from the previous month to sixth place, with 323 units registered in October, and finally entered the overall top 20, with 557 units sold since the start of the year. In seventh place was the iCaur 03 (310 units), which was good enough to enter the top 20, at 18th (345 units YTD).
In eighth place was the Tesla Model Y (246 units), although it is still fourth on the YTD chart with 2,680 units sold. The Xpeng G6 (120 units, 647 units YTD) was placed ninth, and in 10th place was the BYD M6 (88 units, 1,349 units).
Next we have the Denza D9 (82 units, 932 units YTD) in 11th place, and in 12th place was the Tesla Model 3 (74 units), which fell eight places in last month’s monthly chart. Despite this, it is still the fifth best-selling EV overall. In 13th place was the Leapmotor C10 (73 units, 351 units YTD), whose revised price ultimately improved acceptance.

In 14th and 15th place were the Zeekr 009 (62 units, 689 units YTD) and the BYD Seal (52 units, 938 units YTD), respectively. An electric pick-up takes 16th place, while the EV version of the Maxus T90 registers 50 units this month. From here to 20th in the monthly list you’ll find the Xpeng
The composition of the monthly chart highlights the progress Chinese brands have made in electrification, with 15 (or 16, if you want to count the eMas 7’s original origins) of the models in it coming from Chinese automakers. Six of these are from one brand, and that is BYD.
The Proton eMas 5 should obviously appear on the list soon, but in any case, with import and duty exemptions for CBU EVs ending on December 31, expect there to be a rush on registrations in the run-off period, so the bottom half of the chart will certainly see a lot of movement before the year is out.
