Toney has not been called up by England since June, with the Al-Ahli striker overlooked for recent camps. England have just one more camp, in March, before Thomas Tuchel announces his squad for next summer’s World Cup in North America.
Toney is determined to make the plane and wants to return to the Premier League in January to improve his visibility with the England manager.
Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and West Ham have all been linked with the 29-year-old, who has scored 41 goals in 59 games since moving to the Saudi Pro League from Brentford in 2024.
Toney’s reported wages of £400,000 a week in Saudi Arabia are seen as a stumbling block to England’s interest.
However, TEAMtalk reports that the player is willing to make significant cuts to keep his World Cup dream alive.
Toney was part of the England squad that reached the 2024 European Championship final and believes he can still be in the squad for next summer. Tuchel named just one striker in his November squad, England captain Harry Kane.
The out-of-form Ollie Watkins and the injured Dominic Solanke were not part of the group. Tuchel has stated that he believes Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden and Barcelona winger Marcus Rashford could fill the role in Kane’s possible absence.
England will head to North America as one of the favorites for success after a perfect qualifying campaign that saw eight wins from eight games and no goals conceded.
