The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is stepping up efforts to make operations at toll plazas more transparent and commuter-friendly by directing its field offices to prominently display details of ‘Local Monthly Pass’ and ‘Annual Pass’ at all toll plazas under its jurisdiction.Wayfinding boards will be installed at prominent locations, including entrances to payment plazas, customer service areas and entry and exit points, to ensure that highway users are fully aware of available facilities, fares and procedures, making travel smoother and more economical. The information will be available in English, Hindi and/or local regional language.NHAI has directed its field offices to install these boards within 30 days and ensure that they remain highly visible both during the day and at night, in line with the prevailing tariff rules. For wider accessibility, the details will also be uploaded on ‘Rajmargyatra’ mobile application and associated NHAI project websites.

Local monthly pass

Commuters can take advantage of great value passes designed to make commuting smoother. The Local Monthly Pass is available to commuters with private vehicles who live within a 20 km radius (or where applicable) of a paid plaza. To avail the Local Monthly Pass, commuters must present their Aadhar card, vehicle registration certificate and proof of residential address. After checking these documents, the pass will be issued at the Tariefplein helpdesk.

The Annual Pass is valid for one year or for up to 200 paid square crossings and only applies to private vehicles such as cars, jeeps and vans.It can be purchased through the Rajmargyatra app and will be digitally activated on the FASTag linked to the vehicle, after paying a one-time fee of Rs 3,000. The card is accepted at around 1,150 payment plazas along national highways and highways in India. The installation of prominent signage at payment plazas underlines NHAI’s commitment to enhance the commuting experience, increase transparency and make highway travel more convenient and economical for users across the country.
