Carlos Alcaraz will be back on the field in Tokyo when he goes a quarterfinals against Zizou Berg on Saturday. The diagram of the second round also includes a confrontation between Luciano Darderi and Jenson Brooksby.

(1) Carlos Alcaraz vs. Zizou Bergs

Alcaraz almost looked down and out in the Japanese open first round when he sprained his ankle against Sebastian Baez, but the top spaniard recovered to overcome 6-4, 6-2. With a day off between competitions, he should probably be good to go for his next game against Bergs. Alcaraz goes in with a great 48-3 record in its last 51 games, a piece with two Grand Slams-Titels-de French Open and US Open.

Bergs has cooled in a large way since second place on the Grascurrsten of ‘s-Hertogenbosch at the beginning of the summer. The 45th ranked Belgian was a terrible 3-11 in his last 14 games before he arrived in Tokyo, where he went on Thursday past a tired Alejandro Tabilo 1-6, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (2), 7-6 (4) moisture. Unless Alcaraz is much less than 100 percent, this should be a complete dominance in favor of the number 1 seed.

Pick: Alcaraz in 2

(PR) Jenson Brooksby vs. Luciano Darderi

Darderi and Brooksby also go for the first time in their career on Saturday. To say that Darderi has been busy since Wimbledon would be an understatement. The 30th ranking of Italian Caught Back-to-Back Clay Court titles in Bastad and Umag, reached three of the US Open and then won a Clay-Court Challenger event in Genoa. Darderi started his Tokyo campaign with a 7-6 (9), 6-3 victory over Yoshihito Nishioka in which both boys cramped and each collapsed immediately after the match point.

Brooksby is also in good shape. The 86th ranking American Advanced Two Rounds in the Cincinnati Masters and played two pent-makers at Flushing Meadows breakdown by Aleksandar Vukic before he fell to Flavio Cobolli in a super-tie trader. Brooksby opened on Thursday with a 7-6 (4), 6-3 defeat of Ugo Humbert. Even if Darderi is 100 percent, Brooksby should have the lead on a hard court.

Pick: Brooksby in 2
