1910
White Sox Werster Ed Walsh Disapped the first shutout in the original Comiskey Park, when he staggered Washington 4-0. He only allowed two hits and eliminated 10 in the game.
Senators Outfielder William “Wid” Conroy received both hits from Walsh that afternoon.
1932
With a 1-0 loss in the second match of a Double Header against the Philadelphia Athletics, the White Sox began a season of 10-game Losing Streak. Given the 1932 team, the worst in the history of the White Sox, that the worst piece for the team was only 10 losses, is something of a small miracle. The rest of August, however, was simply miserable, because the 10 straight losses were also strung in 13 of 14, 16 of 18 and 21 of 24.
To put in perspective how terrible the 2024 was through 117 games, at this location on the seasonal calendar, that team was Nine games worse Then the 1932, the worst, White Sox Club ever.
1960
The White Sox wiped a Double Header from the senators, 9-7 and 3-2, both on Walk-off fashion, with Gerry Staley Pick up profits in both games.
In the opener, Washington gathered to bind 7-7, in the top of the ninth of Staley, but in the lower half the SOX Reliever Pedro Ramos attacked: SHERM LOLLAR doubled, Al Smith ran, and Gene Freese Crushed a gay to the left to win him. (Ramos had started the game on Friday And Just had pitch-ran in the ninth to enter the game, so it’s hard to blame him for not having gas.)
The pattern repeated itself in the sleeping cap, where Washington gathered to bind in the top of the ninth and the White Sox immediately hit back. Again, Lollar has turned on the rally, with a lead -off single. After two fly outs, Roy Sievers Singled Pinch-Runner Jim Rivera to the third, and then Minnie Miñoso A single through the box and squatted in midfield for the game winner.
On the day, Staley threw four innings of one hit, One-Run, One-Walk Ball. He blew his ninth rescue of the season in the opener, but earned two victories to pick up his record until 11-5 in the year (he would end up at 13-8, at the top all all-relievers in both victories and losses).
The White Sox were in the middle of a final push to defend them Pennant from 1959, only 1 1⁄2 games after the sweep. The South Siders fought back in a draw for the first time after a new Doublehead Sweep for a week from today, but from there and ended 10 games, in third place, at 87-67.

In the midst of the worst season in franchise history, some smiles were seen after the White Sox unveiled the “Big White Machine” in Comiskey Park.
The car was a Ford from 1929, rebuilt by SOX players Ed Herrmann, Bill Melton, Syd O’Brien And the people of Hawkinson Ford (now known as Hawk Ford). The circled Comiskey Park every time the SOX won a home game – which was not often!
1972
He played 23 seasons in the big competitions and his 300 lifelong victories hit Early Wynn‘s ticket in the Hall of Fame, on this date.
Wynn threw five seasons for the SOX and won 64 competitions. He led the American League thrown in innings, started competitions, strikeouts and wins at different times between 1958 and 1962 when he was in Chicago. He on average 38 starts per year during that piece.
The characteristic season of Wynn was the penny -winning year of 1959, when he won the Cy Young with 22 victories and a 3.17 ERA. (There was only one prize in those days, instead of one winner per competition.) In the early 1980s, Wynn became a white SOX broadcaster.
1974
Comiskey Park was the site for one of the most exciting games of the early 1970s, and it concerned Nolan Ryan. The flame thrower took a no-hitter to the ninth inning and led 1-0, thanks to a Frank Robinson Home Run. After getting the first in the ninth, however, it all fell apart for Ryan.
Dick Allen defeat an infield hit, spoiled the no-hitter, and Carlos May reached for an error. Ken Henderson Jerked a single at the center to bind the game, and then with two out, Billy Sharp Single to the right to win.
The SOX defeated the angels 2-1, and received all three of their hits in the last inning. White Sox Starter Jim Kaat Was also brilliant and the late rally saved him from a loss of a hard paint.
1994
In a game in Anaheim, Frank Thomas Reed two points in the A 10-5 White Sox victory, in 12 innings about the angels. The RBIs were his 100th and 101st of the season. They arrived in the 110th game of the team, who found the franchismarking for the fastest to 100 RBIs.
Thomas also held the old brand – put the year before, when he gathered his 100th RBI in the 118th game of the team.
2005
For a 3-1 victory over Seattle, a confluence of Carlton -fish was unveiled, the third ever in Sox Park afterwards Charles Comiskey And Minnie Miñoso. The big blow in the game was a WPA -home run of 20% of Paul KonerkoA shot with two run that brought the white SOX up to date, 2-1.
Fisk retired his number 72 by the White Sox eight years earlier, in 1997.
