The district administration deliberately blocks access to records with regard to the voice additives of the Union Suresh Gopi, alleged KPCC Political Affairs Committee Member TN Prathapan.

Mr. Prathapan took the media here on Saturday and claimed that in the last Lok Sabha election more than 60,000 BJP employees, including members of Suresh Gopi’s own family, fraudulent votes on more than 1,000 cabins added with fake documents and false explanations.

To obtain proof, All India Congress Committee (AICC) member Anil Akkara had submitted an application on the basis of the right to information (RTI) ACT to the District Collector, which is also the Chief Electoral Officer. However, the application was rejected, with reference to the absence of records.

Additional voter list

On August 14, Mr Akkara specifically asked for copies of the supplementary list of voters with the names of Suresh Gopi and his family, together with residential certificates used for voice additives. Instead of providing the documents, the collector has returned the application with the statement that “the requested data intellectual property has been stored in the IT request database of the Chief Electoral Officer and cannot be shared.”

Mr. Prathapan said the answer ‘Bizarre’, “If these records are released, the truth will come out and Suresh Gopi will not even be able to continue as MP for a moment.” He claimed that the voices in Thrissur by Suresh Gopi and BJP employees were supported by forged documents and false statements.

He further accused that the collector, who acted as a district magistrate, withheld the data in accordance with the interests of the state government, who, like the BJP, wanted to prevent their release. “The RTI Act has no provision to refuse such documents. We will appeal,” he said.

Mr. Prathapan concluded with the question: “Why does the district administration and the Chief Electoral Officer obstruct the disclosure of details about the fake voice additions by Suresh Gopi and BJP employees? One thing is clear, the State Government also played a role in this fraudulent voting process.”
