In many of their seasons since their inaugural year, the Minnesota Timberwolves were not a play -off candidate. In 23 of their 36 years as a NBA franchise, they were not eligible for the late season. 12 of their 13 postseason appearances come over two pieces. Minnesota qualified for eight consecutive years from 1997 to 2004 and also has a current four -year line to do this. Now the Timberwolves need 56 wins in 2025-26 to have their best three-seasons stretch in team history.
Timberwolves have 104 victories in the last two regular seasons
The Timberwolves have reached the final of the conference in the last two seasons. In them they went 56-26 (2023-24) and 49-33 (2024-25) during the regular season. That gives them 105 victories in the past two years.
The franchise record for victories over a period of three seasons is 159, which means that the wolves need 54 victories this season to bind the goal, and 55 to break it. The team reached their best three-year piece from 2001-02 to 2003-04, where their records were in those 1950s, 51-31 and 58-24. Those 58 victories are a team record for one season for Minnesota.
It is clear that it will be difficult for the Timberwolves to achieve that it is necessary to set a new team record. Drafkings Sportsbook has its more than/under win total of 48.5 (about -120 mentioned). ESPN’s NBA Summer Prognee gave them a projected record of 51-31. The Western Conference is quite competitive, which means that the Timberwolves do not have many simple competitions within their conference.
This is the most successful period for Timberwolves when it comes to the late season
Even if they do not win 54 or 55 games in the coming season, it can be argued that as long as they do not completely fall off, it is still the most successful period of Minnesota.
Prior to the play -offs of 2024, the Timberwolves had only one season in which they had even won a single play -off series. That was in 2004 when they reached the final of the conference and lost to the Lakers in six games. That gave them two Playoff series victories from 2001-02 to 2003-04, while the Timberwolves have four years in the past two years.
Both eras, however, are comparable, because the Timberwolves had a superstar player in both. Kevin Garnett took the MVP home in 2003-04 and was second in 2002-03. Anthony Edwards has finished in MVP in the last two years and is only 24 years old.
