Tilak Varma will lead India A in the upcoming three-match one-day series against South Africa A with Ruturaj Gaikwad named his deputy. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the 14-member squad on Wednesday.
Shreyas Iyer, who captained the side in their last assignment against Australia A, missed the match due to an injury he sustained in Sydney last month.
The biggest addition to the squad is Ishan Kishan, who returns after a strong run in domestic cricket with Jharkhand during the Ranji Trophy. Besides him, Indian T20 regulars Abhishek Sharma, Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana have also been included in the squad.
Riyan Parag, Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu and Prabhsimran Singh have been retained after consistent performances in the previous series. Left-arm pacers Prasidh Krishna and Khaleel Ahmed add experience to the bowling attack, while spinner Manav Suthar remains part of the first line-up.
The three unofficial one-day matches will be played at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot from November 13 to 19.
