In recent history, the tight final tasks in the Twin Cities were usually handled by Kyle Rudolph. Irv Smith was set up as his successor, an idea that did not work completely. When Smith went in the 2022 season, the Front Office did not bother to add a random veteran backup, but invested big-time to acquire TJ Hockenson.
Tight final ranking includes a nice surprise for the Vikings

Hockenson is one of the best tight ends in the company, and the latest sleek final rankings from Pff confirm that theory. He is noted in 6th place despite missing half the year because of his torn ACL who was suffered late in the 2023 campaign.
Pff’s john kosko written“After missing the first eight weeks of the season, Hockenson continued where he had gone and produced the second highest pff that received his career (78.9). Fantasy football managers were disappointed that he found the end zone only once, in the play-offs, in the play-off, in-off-off-offs Play-offs, in the play-offs, in the play-offs, in the play-offs, in the play-offs.
The Vikings took a cautious approach with the expensive tight end. He played in ten games and caught 41 passes for 455 Yards. His only touchdown in 2024 came in the only game after the season when he was the only Vikings to cross the goalline and he added 64 meters that day.

He was not as effective as in his first two seasons in purple, but the injury is a valid excuse. After a completely low season, he should be at full power again in 2025. Hockenson is a sweet tight ending because he can run an extensive Routeboom and defeat defenses by walking vertically. He is also not a bad blocker, although that is certainly not the reason why he is one of the best -paid tight ends in the NFL.
The blocking aspect is the most important part of the game of teammate Josh Oliver. Surprisingly, he was also mentioned. It appears that it is useful to have an elite blocking figure on the same site that produced the ranking. Oliver clocked in the 21st.
Kosko noted: “If there was a Fantasy Football League that priority gave Runblokkering, Oliver would be one of the first of the board. His 76.5 Pff Runblocking figure In the past two seasons, in second place, behind George-Rittle, and his 77.2 Pff alle.”
Oliver’s addition was quite surprising in 2023, since Hockenson was the obvious tight end in the future. Head coach Kevin O’Connell, however, wanted a top top blocker next to him, and he certainly got one.
As a Passcatcher, the veteran had a big chance last year when Hockenson was not available, and although he registered the best garden and touchdown figures in the career, he still generated only 258 yards and three scores. Oliver is fantastic in what he does. His third year in Minnesota will be his contract season.

The third tight end in the mix, Johnny Mundt, left in a free desk. He drew a deal in Jacksonville and followed Back -up Qb Nick Mullens and former Vikings’ Assistant OC Grant Udinski on the Jaguars.
Gavin Bartholomew, the sixth round pick from April, is the favorite to take over the TE3-job. He will be challenged by colleague -smokies Ben YuroSek and Bryson Nesbit. They arrived as unprotected rookies and should therefore be seen as the Underdogs.
