Through a delusion, the greedy Knicks try to rob the 76ers in broad daylight

The Philadelphia 76ers are trying to win this season – that’s pretty clear to anyone who follows the NBA. In fact, they have had some surprising resurgences so far in this campaign, such as the one handed in by Adnre Drummond during his second go-round with the franchise. After all, the veteran center has emerged as one of the most vital players on the roster.

With Drummond rebounding in a big way this season, the 76ers appear poised to get some calls regarding the former All-Star’s availability in trades. Drummond is indeed on an expiring contract, and his solid production despite being a mostly bench player has some team determined to make a move for him.

According to SNY’s Ian BegleyAndre Drummond is someone the Knicks have been eyeing for a while, making it feasible to believe New York could try to acquire Drummond again before the trade deadline.

Of course, if you belong to the 76ers, the only way to avoid this development is to treat it like a benign pest that craves attention.

The Knicks are delusional if they think the 76ers would send Andre Drummond to New York

First, Drummond has become an integral part of the 76ers’ rotation. The prospect of him no longer being in Philly should give the front office a lot of anxiety, especially with Joel Embiid still managing his duties. With Adem Bona and Johni Broome not yet ready to take on consistent roles, Drummond has made the most of his increased opportunities.

But more importantly, the Knicks couldn’t possibly expect the 76ers, a division rival, to help them by sending Drummond to them. If this inference holds water, New York will clearly want to remove Drummond from the 76ers’ clutches merely out of luxury.

The Knicks already have Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson rounding out their center rotation. As long as they are both healthy, it’s hard to imagine a situation where Drummond’s use would make sense.

As such, given these factors, the 76ers also have no incentive to accept offers from the Knicks, unless of course the terms are so favorable to them.

The Knicks are suddenly all behaving as they have a right to, but the 76ers shouldn’t — and probably won’t — give in to their greedy rival in the Big Apple.
