Three-match Test series between India and Pakistan in England demanded after T20 World Cup drama ends

Michael Vaughan wants Test series between India and Pakistan: The 2026 T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan is finally on the schedule, after Pakistan finally agreed on February 15 to make a U-turn on their decision to boycott the match against their biggest rivals. The Pakistan Cricket Board, after a lengthy discussion with the International Cricket Council (ICC), had decided to withdraw its stand.

PCB demanded three conditions for the summit of the India-Pakistan bilateral series, a three-nation series involving Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. However, this decision is not in accordance with the ICC as they have rejected these demands. Following this, the ICC gave PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi a day to consult Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and confirm the board’s position.

Pakistan is changing their position

In response, the Pakistani government changed its decision to boycott the game. They released a statement saying that the Government of Pakistan has given the green signal that their national cricket team will take the field on February 15, 2026 at the R Premedasa Stadium, Colombo.

The PCB made five demands, including Pakistan’s request not to fine Bangladesh for withdrawing from the T20 World Cup. The ICC was asked to award Bangladesh a global compensation tournament after the Women’s T20 World Cup was shifted from the country to Dubai last year due to social unrest.

An Under-19 World Cup was offered as an alternative for the next cycle. Of these five, only these two demands were met by the ICC, while the remaining three were rejected.

Michael Vaughan demands a unique series between India and Pakistan

Following the row, former England captain Michael Vaughan shared his thoughts on the three-week controversy that took place. He believes it is great news for the cricket world now that the controversy is over. Michael Vaughan also wants India and Pakistan to play a three-match Test series in England.

While sharing, Michael Vaughan said via

India vs Pakistan Test match on cards?

India and Pakistan have not played a Test series since 2007. The last Test played between the two countries was on December 8, 2007 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. The result of the match was a draw. India won the Test series against their arch-rivals 1-0. If a Test series takes place between the sides, it would be a pleasure to watch with them in white.

Bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj will take on Babar Azam and Salman Ali Agha with the red ball in hand, it will be a very different game. Pakistan previously used England as its home base due to security concerns in the country.

However, Michael Vaughan’s demand for the Test series seems far from materializing as both countries have not played a bilateral series for over a decade now. Their last bilateral series was in 2013 when Pakistan traveled to India.
