The injured people were admitted to a nearby hospital and the condition of six people is crucial, he said.
The decision was identified as Basanti Sahu from Bolagarh and Premakant Mohanty and Pravati Das from Balipatna.
The bodies were sent for post -mortem and an investigation is underway.
DGP YB Khurania and high government officials are on site to prepare the situation.
In the meantime, the Odisha -Minister of Justice Prithviraj Haricandan said that he informed head minister Mohan Charan Majhi about the incident.
“We will take all the necessary action,” said Haricandan.
The chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra had reached the Shree Gundicha -Temple on Saturday, a day after the Rath Yatra started in Puri.
The temple is considered the place of the gods, who go there every year from the 12th-century Jagannath temple, located at a distance of 2.6 km, as part of the rituals.
The return journey of the Retourauto, known as ‘Bahuda Yatra’, will be held this year on July 5.
