Three bold predictions for the Knicks’ 2025 NBA season

The Post’s Stefan Bondy answers the biggest Knicks questions, makes bold predictions and picks the five biggest games of the 2025-2026 season:

Is Mike Brown the right man for the job?

For five years, the Knicks followed Tom Thibodeau’s path to great success. The coach was anchored in everything that happened, the good, the bad and everything in between. His surprise firing led to a winding and at times messy coaching search that ended with the candidate who was a safety but not the front office’s first choice. A big change means there’s a microscope on everything Mike Brown says and does, who will have a shorter honeymoon phase than most due to the higher expectations of the franchise. Thibodeau is a hard act to follow.

How much upgrade is the sofa?

Just based on how they performed previously, the reserves will be better. The Knicks bench finished at the bottom in scoring last season and was outscored every night. For context, a few players who were key parts of Thibodeau’s depth — Precious Achiuwa, Delon Wright, Cam Payne — are out of work.

This season, the Knicks signed veterans to fill out the rotation, but there are still question marks. One of those vets – Malcolm Brogdon – has already disappeared from the mix after his retirement. Another – Jordan Clarkson – is 33 and hopes to reverse the production decline of the past few years. A third – Guerschon Yabusele – has looked underwhelming in the preseason and has a lot to prove as a contributor to an NBA prospect. The Knicks should get strong performances off the bench from Miles McBride and Josh Hart, but there is less certainty about the newcomers.
