Threads wants to help users place longer missives, with the addition of a custom text editor, which confirms a separate text window to your update.

As you can see in These examplesposted by Robert NicksonThreads is live testing a new text editor, which offers a simple way to expand your message to a longer article, which is then automatically linked to your update.

It is not yet available for all users, but if you have it, you will see a new page icon in your post options in the app.

Tap on it and you will see a new Infopop-Up, in which the update is explained:

From there you will be taken to the next text editor, which is a composer of a blog post, including a larger text window and options for text styling.

Threads Text Expansion

It is comparable to the “Articles” option from Twitter, with which he first experimented before Elon Musk took over in the app, after the then CEO Jack Dorsey complained about the rise of people who placed screenshots of Notes App Text in their updates.

Since then, as X, the platform has expanded the length of the messages instead, with paying users who can now use Maximum 25k characters in their updates.

X also has a long-shaped “articles” option (also for paid users), which has encouraged publications to post directly to the app, to get a better reach.

This is apparently the variation of threads of the same, which offers another means for threads users to post longer content without having to share screenshots of text.

And it looks good, it looks like a handy option that does indeed take care of those who want to record longer descriptions. I mean, it is somewhat against the short nature of the app, and you know, making threads, such as its namesake, but with so many people who want to post more context, to ensure that they are understood, it can be a useful addition.

The Threads team tests are currently its long update with some users.
