Thomas Frank tries to build for the ‘long term’ at Spurs

Thomas Frank says he wants to build something that will last at Spurs as he looks to improve the club’s fortunes in the Premier League.

Tottenham extended their winless run in all competitions to three games on Wednesday evening as they lost 5-3 to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League.

The Lilywhites have won just three of their last ten matches, but Frank was pleased with the way his team responded to their recent poor performances by taking the game to PSG.

“That’s the beauty of it,” he said during his press conference ahead of Saturday’s match against Fulham. “We are facing a completely different match. A match in which we will hopefully have more of the ball to open Fulham.”

“Fulham don’t have the points they want, but they performed well and were unlucky. It will be a different challenge, but one we are ready for.”

“I’m happy with the performance and the reaction we got from the players against PSG. I think the aggression in the high pressing, the forwardness and the intensity should have won us a point or points against PSG, but a certain amount of randomness and game management prevented us from doing that. That’s what we have to learn from.”

“Every decision I make is to win the next game, but also for the long term. If you can’t build something that will last, it doesn’t matter. That’s what it’s all about.”
