This small engine fits in a briefcase. But it can increase the reach of your EV by hundreds of kilometers

Despite an important focus on electric vehicles by a large part of the industry, combustion engines appear to be difficult to kill. Companies are still in development, and Horse Powertrain, the Romanian company behind the engine that runs on liquid petroleum gas, has another new engine that can turn from an EV into a vehicle with a range.

The naturally extracted engine, called the C15, is small. It only measures 19.7 inches at 21.7 inch at 10.8 inches large with a relocation of 1.5 liters. The unity of the Aktetas format houses the generator, inverter, exhaust and cooling package. It produces up to 94 hp.

It is designed to integrate with existing electric drive units and Charge the battery. Due to the small size, it fits horizontally or vertically in the front or rear compartments of B or C segment of electric vehicles with little to no necessary change.

There is a turbo vein version of the engine that can yield up to 161 hp. Horse designed the C15 for larger D-segment for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. According to the company, it is Euro 7 in conform.

“EVs range are the fastest growing powertrain category in many global markets,” said Matias Giannini, CEO of Horse Powertrain. “The Horse C15 Range Extender solution offers OEMs a simple and cost-effective way to tap this opportunity and adjust their native Bev platforms to Reevs.”

Extensive reach EVs have their moment

With the future of electric vehicles still uncertain, car manufacturers are starting to cover their bets. EV development is underway, but resources shift to hybrids and trailers.

The new cars from Scout, an electric SUV and pick-up, have a range-extended option called Harvester when they enter the production in 2027. It is supposed to give the vehicles more than 500 miles of electric reach by charging the battery.

Ram may have delayed his Ramcharger, but it is a 1500 with an electric drive unit and a 3.6-liter V-6 that serves as a generator. Even Hyundai is planning Launch a range-expanded EV in 2026.

These machines for choosing the range do not have to be large or powerful to keep the battery charged. They can work with an efficient RPM that retains fuel and illuminates all worries about range. REEVS can be the bridge automakers needed to switch to pure battery-electric vehicles.
